Seventh Secret Ripper

19 April 2008

You can ride up, you can ride down OR you can ride up and down! This is a great start to the Ripper event series as it offers an option to any type of rider; the cardio guru, downhiller or all around mountain rider.

The event will start with a climb that will take you to the top of Seventh Secret where you will either tag your partner who will enjoy the fruits of your labour with a fun descent OR you will continue on after earning your plunge back down the mountain.

The trail is a long time intermediate Shore classic that is stunt free and friendly to an experienced XC rider and a good quick rip for the downhill rig!  But, be prepared for a little bit of pedaling; it isn’t 100% point and shoot.

Super DH

3 May 2008

This one is a crowd favorite! Get yourself a team of 2 or 4 and work together to get through a course that will take place on the trails of Mt.Seymour, including…..nope, not gonna tell!!!  This is the beauty of the event; the course is unknown until that morning. So instead of a predictable pinner ride, it’s more of an adventure!

You will start as a team but in waves….one team at a time with a minute split. It is all in good fun so if a team needs to pass you simply pull over and carry on; no biggie really, it is all about the good time.

Expect a course that has both some pedaling, technical descents, uphill climbing (maybe pushing) and perhaps a few low risk stunt options…so whatever your strength is something will match it! Also be prepared to be out there for 30 minutes to 90 minutes. It is irrelevant how long you take as long as you arrive with a smile on your face.

We will continue this year with the Corporate Challenge – The winner of the 4-person team event can have the registration fees of all the four team participants go to a charity of their choice! Another way the NSMBA is giving back to the community via the Ripper Events.

Wade's Excellent Adventure

24 May 2008

A new addition to the Ripper line-up this event has Crazy Fun written all over it. How many trails do you think you can ride on Fromme in a day?

Wade's Excellent Adventure will have a scavenger hunt format that needs not only your riding skill but also your puzzle solving abilities. Each clue will lead you to a trail where you will collect key words  that will put together the phrase you need to complete the event. It will require a strategy, some pedaling/pushing and working together as a team. The aim of this event is to enjoy an adventure on the awesome trail network that Fromme Mountain provides. We are still working out the final details so stay tuned—it is gonna be good…!

Triple Crown

5 July 2008

Ride Seymour, Fromme and Cypress all in one day!

Are you surprised? The classic that completes our Ripper series is back once again!

This event is all about “favorites”. Team up with your favourite riding buddies and ride your favourite trails on each of the North Shore mountains. We only ask for a few things to be done along the way. Here is how it works...

This event will start bright and early and must be completed as a team of 2 or more, co-ed, all male or all female. We don’t care how you get your bike up or down but you have to hit the checkpoints and receive your playing card to complete the course. As well, there might be surprise mystery events at these checkpoints to mix it up

You will get a map the morning of the event and the checkpoints will be clear and easy to find.  Therefore you can shuttle the shuttle friendly mountains if you choose and ride down the road if you choose…why you would is your business!

SO…don’t let the daunting task of all three scare you away; but then again for those who like a pure physical challenge this can satisfy that desire threefold.

The winner will be the one with the best poker hand once all of the checkpoints have been reached and the playing cards collected.

So mark your calendars and make sure you join us for the most fun you can have at a mountain biking event!
